Homestay Program
Our homestay program lets you experience life in a rural community. Wake to the crowing of roosters, milk a cow at first light, or try your hand at making cheese. Your days will be busy. You might visit a rural school, plant trees to support local reforestation efforts, volunteer at a wildlife rescue center, or learn about the workings of a coffee farm and finally taste the best coffee in the world! You might even experience the famous “mejenga” – playing football (soccer) in the town square with the locals.
Each homestay family has gone through a selection process, ensuring they share our education and conservation values and provide a safe and healthy environment for your visit. Many families have been with the program for years and have extensive experience creating the perfect setting for you to learn a little Spanish and make friends. No doubt, it will be an adventure, and you will leave with feelings of love, respect, and affection for your family and a desire to return one day.
